Long and soppy post alert!
It’s the festive season so we’ve been reflecting on our first summer of flying. When Darren and Dave first concocted a plan to fly people around Newcastle and Northumberland in vintage biplanes we had no idea how incredible it would be.
Incredibly hard work but incredibly rewarding.
But we wouldn’t be here without the help and support of a LOT of people. Don’t worry, I’m not going to name everyone individually as this would then be an extra long and soppy post but here goes. And this is in no particular order.
To everyone who has liked, shared or commented on our social media – as a small, fledgling business you have no idea how much this means to us.
To those that have helped us with design, photography and filming, thanks for helping us show just how fabulous Northumberland is and helping us show off our gorgeous Gemsy and Annie.
To the passengers that have flown with us (or are due to fly with us), whether you like it or not you’ll forever be part of our Tiger Flights family. Thanks for letting us help you make memories. We’ve loved celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries with you or fulfilling your bucket list wishes and making long held dreams become a reality. We’ve helped people recreate the photos of their grandparents in Tiger Moths during the war. People have spent time with our aircraft, rekindling old memories before they lose their sight. We’ve laughed and cried (well I have anyway) with you.
To those that have supported us with maintenance on the aircraft, doing work around the hangar and in our cosy new cabin (you have no idea how happy it makes me that we now have heat in the winter), you have kept us safe and flying. We are so grateful for your experience and expertise.
Fellow pilots, aviators and vintage aircraft enthusiasts at the airfield and around the country – your well wishes and support have been so lovely.
Like during an Oscars acceptance speech, I can feel the music coming to an end signalling me to wind up.
So just let us say a massive thank you to everyone who has played a part in our journey so far. We hope you have a lush festive season, and we’ll see you bright and refreshed ready for flying in 2024.
Darren, Dave and Amanda
